Privacy Policy

Your guide, your phone: listeners join without a personal account. Online audio passes through our media servers. Offline audio stays on the tour's local Wi-Fi network. The service does not provide audio recording.

1. Who operates this service

Listen Your Guide, operated by Hasan Çoker, provides the website, guide administration service and Android/iOS guide and listener applications. For privacy questions and requests, contact info@listenyourguide.com.

2. Listener information

Listeners do not enter a name, email address, telephone number or personal profile. The app creates a random installation identity, represented by a technical identifier, to authorize tour access and avoid duplicate use of the guide's service allowance. We process this identifier, the selected tour, connection/admission times, access expiry and playback confirmation. These technical records are not anonymous merely because they do not include a name.

The app receives live guide audio. It does not broadcast the listener's microphone or use the camera, location, contacts or photo library. Device and network connection information, including IP addresses, may be processed by our API and media infrastructure.

3. Guide accounts and applications

We process the guide's name, email address, telephone number, city and submitted professional information, including chamber membership, guide licence, working card, its expiry, permitted regions and languages, to evaluate applications and operate approved accounts. The current iPhone application and Android version 1.0 do not request a government identity number. Earlier Android applications may include a T.C. identity or Blue Card number; when collected, identity numbers are protected with encryption.

Account operation also requires an account identifier, device identifier/name/platform/app version, authentication sessions, tour codes, admission records, service balances and transaction records. Sign-in passwords are hashed. Temporary onboarding credentials are encrypted and removed from the administrator's account view after the first successful sign-in.

4. Live audio and connection modes

Online: the guide's microphone audio is sent through our self-hosted LiveKit media server to authorized listeners. LiveKit is the communications software used by the service; this deployment uses our server rather than LiveKit Cloud. Voice is processed for live delivery and is not saved as an audio recording by this service. Transport encryption is used; we do not claim end-to-end encryption for the online stream.

Offline: guide audio is sent over the local Wi-Fi network supplied by the Listen Your Guide bag. Listeners do not need internet access. The guide still contacts the API to create/renew codes and authorize new admissions, so offline listening does not mean all account and authorization processing is offline.

5. Hosting and other providers

Namecheap supplies our website and server hosting; the current online service infrastructure is hosted in the United States. Network and account data may therefore be processed outside your country. We use these providers to operate the service, with access limited to what is needed for hosting and support. Apple and Google separately process downloads, platform services and any feedback you choose to send through their systems under their own privacy policies.

The website does not include advertising trackers or behavioural analytics. Standard hosting logs may contain IP addresses, requested pages, browser information and request times. Email links open your email provider. WhatsApp links open WhatsApp; information you choose to send there is also handled under that provider's policies.

6. Diagnostics and purposes

We use account, professional, transaction and technical data for guide verification, authentication, live tour delivery, access control, service accounting, support and abuse prevention. We do not use it for cross-app advertising tracking or sell it to advertisers.

A guide may choose to share a diagnostic report. It can contain app/device/network information, connection statistics and technical event codes. The report is designed to exclude recorded audio, passwords, access tokens and tourist profiles. Server logs are used for reliability and security.

7. Retention, deletion and your choices

Operational profile, application, tour and access records are retained while needed to provide the account and resolve service issues. We do not retain live audio recordings. Sign-in sessions and listening permissions have separate expiry periods; expiry of a listening code does not automatically erase historical transaction or access records.

In guide app version 1.0, open Account & Privacy → Delete account, enter your current password and confirm. Once completed, the account, associated application/profile, authentication sessions and operational tour data are removed. Active online tours are closed. Other devices lose access when they reconnect to the service; immediate remote revocation on a disconnected offline device cannot be guaranteed. Deletion does not initiate a payment refund and unused service rights become unavailable.

Accounting transaction records that must be retained are kept separately from the deleted account. Protected recovery backups can retain earlier data for their retention cycle and are not used for ordinary account access. Any recovery must respect previously completed deletion requests. We may request proportionate information to verify ownership; do not email passwords.

8. Device permissions and security

The guide needs microphone access to broadcast. Local network access is needed for offline discovery and audio. You can manage these permissions in your device settings. The listener does not need microphone or camera access to listen. SDK-related purpose descriptions do not mean these permissions are requested during listening.

Account API communication uses HTTPS. Authentication data is protected with iOS Keychain or Android security storage on supported physical devices. Access to the administration service is restricted. No transmission or storage method can guarantee absolute security.

9. Children and updates

The service is intended for guided tours and is not designed as an online service directed to children. Guests can listen without creating personal accounts. Changes to this policy will be reflected in the update date above.
